Poop Happens!
Poop Happens!
Well, I know this is a little gross but the Lord does have a sense of humor and has been nudging me to use the following as an illustration! I was dog sitting my daughter’s dog yesterday. I had just let her out a couple of hours before and had settled in to do some ironing. I noticed she was acting a little weird and walking around the room kind of fast. I didn’t pay much attention as it never occurred to me there was anything she needed.
I kept ironing and then began to notice this awful smell! I left the room to see what it could be and oh my goodness, it looked like Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory in my family room! YUCK!! The dog had been looking for a way outside to relieve herself but I had ignored her! I quickly began cleaning up her mess but it was impossible to get it all up! I had to call the professionals!
Ok, I know you are wondering where I am going with this but this makes a great point! Eventually, what ever we are carrying around that doesn’t belong in us anymore, will make its way out into plain view! Sometimes we are looking for relief, and sometimes it just can’t be controlled anymore. I’m talking about sin, here.
I tried to clean up Kymber’s mess but I needed someone who could permanently remove the stains! Therefore, I reached out to the professionals.
Are you carrying around something that isn’t beneficial to your walk with the Lord? You may be trying to find relief or you might be trying to control it. Either way, eventually your sin will be found out. I love my daughters dog and I was certainly willing to clean up her mess. She needed to get it out! However, we can never clean up other people’s messes! Only the Lord can do that properly and sufficiently!
The Lord never ignores us! He wants us to be free of what ever sin we are carrying around with us. Jesus Christ is the ONLY one that can clean up your mess because He loves you and wants you to feel right again! True conviction (when we know we have sinned) is easy to identify. You can release it and Jesus removes the stains forever!
Many people carry around “false guilt”. I will explain the difference in “false guilt” and “true conviction” below. But first, I want to tell you that if you are carrying around “false guilt” then let it go, my friend! There is nothing that will wear you out more than “false guilt”!
It’s ironic but true…”false guilt” is a burden while true conviction is “freedom”! When we are convicted of sin, God is tapping us on the shoulder and showing us what is separating us from him! Embrace it, confess it, release it and be free from it forever!
True Conviction
- Definite and Specific. The Lord tells me exactly what I have done.
- Recognizable. It is something unconfessed and unforgiven that I recognize – usually in the immediate past.
- Definite Solution. The Holy Spirit tells me how to take care of the sin. When I obey, I get relief from soul pain guilt.
False Guilt
- Indefinite and vague. I feel guilty but cannot identify any specific sin.
- Imaginary. I have a hard time putting my finger on this – unless it is something in the past that I have already taken care of.
- Usually no solution. If any solution is offered, it is irrational and unscriptural. The soul-pain intensifies.
